Culture of Greece is this week's Collaboration of the week. Please come and help it become a featured-standard article.

Article Licensing

[edit]

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

Sources for Telecom Corridor

[edit]

Hello, sometime ago you added a fair bit of content to Telecom Corridor. As you may be aware, we are currently trying to improve Wikipedia's accuracy and reliability by making sure articles cite the sources used to created them. Do you remember what websites, books, or other places you learnt the information that you added to Telecom Corridor? Would it be possible for you to mention them in the article? Thank you very much. - SimonP 15:18, 4 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Let me echo this request for American Soccer League. Thanks! --best, kevin [kzollman][talk] 03:04, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I wondered what you meant when you said that a reference was already listed. I wouldn't have asked if it had one. I discovered that somebody beat you to it! I guess you're just too slow :) Thanks for checking it out. --best, kevin [kzollman][talk] 03:48, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Football Aid

[edit]

I've noticed you did an edit on Owen Hargreaves back a while ago. I nominated the article at Football Aid/Article Improvement. Maybe you can help out by voting and do more edits. There are also more articles you can do and you can nominate articles yourself.Kingjeff 00:34, 10 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Economy of Africa

[edit]

Hi, you were a contributor to this article, which is on the verge of being delisted as a FA. Can you return to help? Urgently requires inline citations and enhanced information in a few places. It's been copy-edited nicely by Peirigill. Tony 04:11, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:SantosBrazilLogo.GIF. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Orphaned fair use image (Image:UnamPumasLogo.GIF)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:UnamPumasLogo.GIF. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Fair use rationale for Image:AtleticoNacionalMedellinLogo.GIF

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:AtleticoNacionalMedellinLogo.GIF. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Thanks for uploading Image:AtleticoNacionalMedellinLogo.GIF. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the GFDL-self-no-disclaimers tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 08:56, 16 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Orphaned non-free image (Image:AtleticoNacionalMedellinLogo.GIF)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:AtleticoNacionalMedellinLogo.GIF. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:CDOlimpiaLogo.jpg. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 13:33, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Jordan Stone

[edit]

Please do not make personal attacks. Wikipedia has a strict policy against personal attacks. Attack pages and images are not tolerated by Wikipedia and are speedily deleted. Users who continue to create or repost such pages and images in violation of our biographies of living persons policy will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Thank you.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Another editor has added the "prod" template to the article Ty Maurin, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the prod template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Speedy deletion of Template:A-League

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Template:A-League requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>transclusionless</noinclude>).

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:FortLauderdaleStrikers77Logo.GIF. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use.

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Chris Edgemon! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 27 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 144 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the unreferencedBLP tag. Here is the list:

Football in Mexico template

[edit]

you created the "Football in Mexico" template, but the page's actual name is "Futbol Mexicano". wiki rules say to use english, except for rare exceptions. of all 200+ countries, hundreds of languages and dozens of sports, only your "Futbol Mexicano" and user Soccafanatic7's "Futbol Salvadoreno" have pages named in spanish. i know it doesn't affect navigation, but it would improve how templates appear in cats/subcats. having all templates follow uniform names, just improves categorization. i don't know how to create an english page version (and redirect from the spanish version), so i'm asking if you could. The article Bobby Thompson (soccer) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unreferenced BLP. Appears that he never played in the MLS, and there is no other assertion of meeting the general notability guideline.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the dated prod notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing dated prod will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. ...but there's nothing in there about Christian communism. The only references to communism are references to Icaria; the only reference to Christianity is implying the Fourierists aren't Christian.
The Fourierists didn't describe themselves as Christian communists. Or communists. The Marxists were against Fourierism. The Reunion colonists weren't primarily motivated by their Christianity. Chris Edgemon (talk) 22:49, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
 • My apologies for that bad link, try this one. Nowhere in nineteenth-century America was this rivalry between imported ideas and indigenous conditions more pronounced than in the religious, communist, and socialist colonies that sprouted from New Jersey to Texas in the years immediately before the Civil War.
 • See also: The Project Gutenberg EBook of La Reunion, a French Settlement in Texas, by William J. Hammond and Margaret Ellen Forsyth Hammond. Here is the link. Quote: Communism, he says, has failed, except in rare cases where the effort was supported by energetic religious faith, largely because of false theory or poor conduct in the establishment of the colony. Therefore, any effort that the Fourierists should put forth should be worked out completely in theory before the undertaking is started.
 • Here is another quote: Another part of his scheme was that of instruction or teaching. One day was to be set apart for the teaching “of the social aims and of the common faith, to the discussion of the general ideas and expressions of the harmonic or the religious sentiment of the population. Certain functions that were unitary and of utilitarian value were to be considered and voted upon by the whole body, and were to be developed out of the religious emotions of the people. Favorable attitudes toward progressive measures were also to be created, taking care, however, that the whole movement was one of spontaneity and not one of passive acceptance. There is no ambiguity as to what drove the sentiment or the early settlers. They were all about religion, even to this day.
